CMHC

My goal is to help clients change their relationship to trauma so that it no longer defines them. While I have worked in various settings, my specialty is trauma, grief and loss, mood issues, and attachment challenges. I help clients move through and release their trauma by utilizing EMDR therapy, body based interventions, resourcing skills, and mindfulness. These techniques result in clients defining themselves by a strong and empowered sense of self.

As part of my EMDR training, I have completed multiple advanced workshops centered around trauma, attachment, and grief.  EMDR helps process pain and trauma, and alters any negative core beliefs a client has about themselves. As we go on this therapeutic journey, I will tailor my therapy to what the client needs.

I believe we have so much resilience and strength within us, but we often don’t know how to access and connect to it. I aid clients in tapping into their strength, truth, and wisdom so they can understand more about themselves, find their voice, feel empowered, and heal.

Lexi’s Frequently Asked Questions

  • As a trauma-informed CMHC, my primary treatment modality is EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is a highly effective approach for helping clients process and release trauma. EMDR helps individuals reprocess distressing memories/physiological sensations, as well as negative core beliefs.  This process often results in the traumatic memories reducing their emotional charge and enabling the brain to integrate those experiences in a healthier/more adaptive way.  Importantly, negative core beliefs are often linked to unresolved traumatic experiences, and are often a key component to experiencing healing from trauma.  The addressing and/or shifting of negative core beliefs is a valuable part of the trauma healing process.  Specifically, EMDR therapy allows clients to shift negative core beliefs they may hold about themselves, such as feelings of inadequacy, worthlessness or shame, and replace them with more neutral, compassionate, and/or empowering thoughts about oneself.

Alongside EMDR, I integrate several other techniques to provide holistic support. Body-based interventions are essential in helping clients connect with the physiological sensations related to their trauma. This allows them to release pent-up emotional tension/pain and regain a sense of grounding and safety. Resourcing skills are tools I teach clients to build internal resources.  Building resourcing skills can aid clients in learning to slow down their nervous system, so that they can experience feelings of calm/safety in their body.  Additionally, I incorporate mindfulness practices to help clients become more present in the moment, emotionally regulate, and foster greater self-awareness.

The beauty of this approach is that I tailor therapy to meet each client’s individual needs, so they feel empowered and capable of healing at their own pace. Ultimately, my goal is to help clients redefine themselves beyond their trauma, access their resilience, and build a healthier, more integrated sense of self.

  • It will depend on the client's needs, as my goal is to ensure that clients feel supported while also empowering them to manage their healing journey at a pace that works best for them.  If a client is wanting to do more intense therapeutic work, it is likely that once a week will be recommended.  But this is ultimately up to the client and what the client feels they need.

  • Generally, my therapeutic style is collaborative, client-centered, attachment-focused, and trauma-informed.  More specifically, my therapeutic style is more of a soft approach, empathetic, and compassionate.  However, when it is needed, I can also challenge and be more direct.  I am flexible and can adapt my style to what the client needs.   My number one priority as a clinician is to build a strong therapeutic relationship/rapport with the client so the client feels safe in order to open up, be vulnerable, and connect to their pain/trauma.  I believe in working closely with clients to create a safe and supportive environment where they can heal and grow. My approach is tailored to each individual’s needs, often utilizing EMDR therapy, body-based interventions, resourcing skills, and mindfulness.  I believe in empowering clients to become more self-aware, find their voice, and build a resilient sense of self.

  • My therapeutic approach is really centered around sitting with my client's pain, while also offering them hope and tools to empower them to address their trauma/grief, emotionally regulate, and slow down their nervous system to heal and find safety.  EMDR therapy can be very effective in addressing unresolved trauma and increasing distress tolerance, so that clients can connect to and move through their pain/trauma.

  • Yes, I am trained in several specific modalities and treatment methods. My primary modality is EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is especially effective in processing trauma, grief, and negative core beliefs. I have completed advanced EMDR therapy workshops related to trauma, attachment, and grief.  Additionally, I incorporate body-based interventions, resourcing skills, and mindfulness techniques to support clients in connecting to their inner strength and cultivating a sense of empowerment.

When needed, I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which helps clients identify and change negative thought patterns that contribute to emotional and behavioral challenges. Motivational Interviewing is another method at times I utilize to support clients in exploring and resolving ambivalence, and helping them find the motivation to make positive changes in their lives. These techniques, combined with my trauma-informed approach, allow me to provide a holistic and adaptable treatment plan that meets the unique needs of each client.

  • At the moment, I only offer virtual sessions.
